When I was there for breakfast, I saw several people stop in and pick up to go orders.
Ritter’s is a classic and legendary ‘greasy spoon’ 24-hr diner with a decidedly Pittsburgh feel. I go there when I need a solid breakfast and diner coffee that stays hot and gets refilled until I’m happily full and jittery. Pancakes are some of the best you can get anywhere. The waitstaff isn’t as warm as the coffee, can be brusque and seem impatient, but they are decidedly attentive and don’t stop moving - there’s a flurry of activity there all the time so not a place to sit quietly and relax while you contemplate big thoughts. It is great for people watching, though, especially sitting at the bar or one of the window booths. Be prepared to pay with cash or use the atm by the door - in classic Pittsburgh style they do not take credit cards.
It was hard to decide what to order. It all looked good. Large helpings and quite delicious. The waitress was very good. Want to go back. Will have a hard time deciding on what to order next.
The food here was great. I like the oldschool comfortable feel to it. Its nostalgic. I wish the music still played. It was a good time.
Hygiene - zero. Food - tasteless. Ambience - zero. This dive should not be representing itself as a restaurant. Staff regularly removed their face masks and the food was horrendous. How can one mess up an omelette????
One of the best omelets I’ve ever had for take out. Only complaint was the potatoes were not as hot as I would have liked.
A very good selection. One of my favorites is corn beef hash or I would have had the dinner special. I love my corned beef hash slighty burned--this was the first time ever that I have been asked how I like my corn beef hash! It was perfect. Good experience. Plenty of parking and friendly staff.
Ritter's is the most authentic diner in the area. If you love diners like I do... You'll love it here. The food is always good as is the coffee. The staff members are seasoned veterans and can handle anything probably because the place is open 24/7. Friendly, fast and delicious and the atmosphere is also on point for a diner. This place is a must visit for diner lovers, casual lunches and late night munchies.
We're from Jersey so where do we want to eat when traveling? A DINER of course! Ritter's is a classic diner. Classic look. Classic food. Classic waitresses. Classic prices too! LOVED IT! Super friendly waitress Ruth. Great service. Food was delish. We ordered: Chicken Wing Dings, Greek Lemon Soup, Cream of Chicken Noodle Soup, Arcadian Burger, Southwest Burger, Pitts-Burger and Bacon Cheeseburger. 🤤❤️We had just spent the day at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium and I just Google Map searched "diner" for somewhere to go for dinner. Ritter's came up as close by. What a find! Glad we found it. If you're in Pittsburgh go to the Zoo then to Ritter's Diner you won't be disappointed. 👍👍👍👍
Great local diner located in the heart of Pittsburgh in Oakland. Definitely recommend for breakfast options known for morning grits.Local family on mom and pop shop with phenomenal food options for a family meal. Custom staple for our family to go to after events in Pittsburgh. Only downfall of this local diner is the fact that only cash is excepted. So if you have forgotten your Debit card or to bring cash with you this can become an issue very quickly. No credit cards will be accepted here. Otherwise highly recommend.
This place is an institution. Every time I go, it's outstanding. And I need to get there more often. Fabulous waitress. Fantastic food. Great service! Wonderful prices.
I forgot the servers name but she was pleasant and helpful. The saying" The customer is always right" is how she worked. BTW the meal was excellent. As Usual. Hopefully an establishment such as this will be around for years to come.
The food is good, and the service can be excellent, depending on who's working. Unfortunately, some of the staff are clearly annoyed that they have to deal with customers and go out of their way to make sure you know it. If that kind of thing doesn't bother you, Ritter's can be an enjoyable experience. However, after my last visit, I don't really plan to return.
A fantastic place with home style food. The crowd here proves that this is a popular place among the people. Always welcome here anytime.
Classic greasy spoon. Good people. Great chatter. It is what you think it is.
